Bowen Therapy initiates the body’s own ability to balance, restore and heal itself achieving lasting relief from pain and discomfort.
Bowen is applied to treat a wide range of muscular and, structural complaints throughout the body including:
Bowen is a gentle remedial body technique, using thumb and finger pressure to create light rolling type movements across muscle fibres, tendons or ligaments with no forceful manipulation.
These moves are often applied in special sequences. The patient breaths in and on exhalation Bowen moves are applied to specific muscles, tendons and ligaments. This initiates the muscle to relax, increase circulation and lymph and improve the flexibility of the fascia. This allows the body to re-align and balance itself.
At specific times during the treatment, the practitioner may allow your body to rest for a couple of minutes. This can be an important part of the treatment as it gives your body time to react to the work that has been done.
Your practitioner will discuss an appropriate after care protocol at the conclusion of your treatment to ensure optimal recovery.
